Pilates is a form of exercise which helps to re-train the postural muscles, allowing you to exercise and move from a central core of stability. Once you have re-trained the central core, exercises progressively challenge this by working at strength, flexibility, co-ordination and control. However, it is always possible to exercise at your own pace.

Pilates suits people of all ages and fitness levels and is ideal for complimenting other forms of exercise, eg running, aerobics.

Modified pilates is based on traditional pilates but has been modified to be safer and more suited to people with neck and pack pain. Our 7 pilates instructors are all physiotherapists who have undergone training in modified pilates with The Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute.

At Inverurie Chartered Physiotherapy Clinic we use pilates extensively in individual treatments, as well as running evening and daytime classes. These classes normally run in a block of 6 weeks.
